We are delighted to announce the appointment of Laura Froshaug as a Research Consultant from October 2015. Having recently graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in French and Latin, Laura is now eager to develop her experience in the sport, leisure and culture sector.

Laura has been inspired to become a part of the sector after volunteering at the London 2012 Olympic Games. She was even selected to personally update David Cameron about the GB swimming team on a visit to the Olympic Team. and was also promoted to Athlete Services Team Leader. Whilst fulfilling her academic duties,

Laura was a former international swimmer, representing Great Britain at the Queensland State Championships in Brisbane, Australia. A highly motivated and well-organised team player, she was elected captain of her University Swimming Team. More importantly, Laura understands and has seen first-hand the benefits of ensuring that top quality sport facilities are accessible to all. Laura’s other volunteering also included teaching children swimming which enabled her to be awarded the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award at St James’ Palace, London.

Following her appointment, Laura said; “I am absolutely thrilled to join SLC. The work carried out here is crucial to getting more people involved in sport, leisure and culture, something I’m very passionate about. I am ready to get learn as much as possible from the senior members of the team.’
