Connecting senior leaders, sparking collaboration, and driving change

In today’s environment of political instability, financial pressure, and constant change, senior leaders face unprecedented challenges. Having the right network, insight, and support is essential.

Since 2009, we have supported peer-to-peer learning, collaboration, and meaningful connections across the sector. Whether new to leadership or highly experienced, you’ll find real value in our network of over 1,400 senior peers through the SLC Online Forum.

We are recognised thought leaders—bringing curiosity, insight and a willingness to challenge the status quo. We developed the approach to support sector recovery and £100m funding for public leisure during COVID. We’ve championed using the WELLBY to measure social value and successfully campaigned to reduce junk food in leisure venues.

Our expertise is shared across the UK and internationally, supporting improvement at local and system levels. Through strong relationships within local government and beyond, we connect the right people, share best practice and enable meaningful collaboration.

Our Think Tank seminars bring leaders together for high-quality discussion, knowledge sharing and networking. Delivered in a trusted, collaborative environment, they are consistently valued for their insight and impact.

If we can’t help you or feel other organisations are better placed to meet your needs, we’ll introduce you.

We often support clients in developing their briefs and requirements building on our experience of scoping and delivering successful projects and programmes.

In 2026, we introduced regular LGR-focused networking events through SLC’s LGR Network, creating even more opportunities to connect, learn and lead with confidence.

Supporting and enabling impactful networks, expert insight and hands-on learning to help the sector deliver better outcomes.

LGR Network

This network, supported by SLC, working with New Local, brings together council officers and portfolio holders to explore how councils can successfully navigate LGR whilst ensuring that sport, leisure, culture and active wellbeing remain central to the priorities of future unitary authorities.

Sessions are virtual, facilitated round table discussions which are tailored to the priorities/needs of attendees.

Think Tanks

SLC hosts a number of Think Tanks each year. Typically, we select a live sector issue – for example: LGR, management options or wider sector collaboration – and invite local authority client officers, commissioners and other relevant stakeholders to join us.
