The Sport, Leisure and Culture Consultancy (SLC) is inviting local authorities to take part in the latest of our successful Think Tank facilitated seminars on Sustainable Leisure and Cultural Services.

The seminar takes place on Thursday 28 September: 9.30am – 3.45pm at Trowers and Hamlins, 10 Colmore Row, Birmingham B3 2QD.

Think Tanks enable senior officers and their portfolio holders to benefit from a more informed approach to delivering their leisure and cultural services sustainably, exploring procurement solutions, asset management and associated facility developments.

SLC will run ‘surgeries’ to discuss individual local authority portfolios and projects in detail and explore opportunities and ideas with leading procurement, facility development, legal and asset management experts.

The Birmingham seminar on Thursday 28 September has the added benefit of a focus on management options in addition to the overall theme of sustainable leisure and cultural services. In partnership with leading leisure legal experts Trowers and Hamlins, this includes exploring management options including in house, in house trusts, external trusts, Local Authority Trading Companies and Joint Ventures. Options that delegates are keen to explore will be discussed linked to issues such as risk transfer, control, financial performance and achieving strategic outcomes.

SLC’s Think Tanks are designed to help local authorities whatever stage they are in the journey and provides an opportunity to meet with colleagues from other authorities, organisations and experts involved in the transformation of their services in a challenging financial climate.

The case studies focus on the recent procurements undertaken by SLC on behalf of East Northamptonshire Council and Slough Borough Council, which both have delivered an outstanding financial outcome and leisure partnership, respectively.

Who should attend?

The facilitated seminar is aimed at Local Authority Senior Officers and Members that have strategic responsibility for leisure and cultural services and senior transformation / procurement managers.
