SLC has been at the forefront of developing cultural strategies that are cross-cutting and deliver real outcomes. Our approach is supported by a clear vision, strong policy position, excellent governance, focused priorities and SMART action plans. Bespoke to your politics and place, we can shape your cultural strategy to meet your specific needs, building on our strong track record of success across the country.
SLC supports local authorities with service reviews and redesign linked to establishing affordability and long-term sustainability. We have a strong track record in this area working with local authorities such as Derby City Council, Suffolk Country Council, North Kesteven and South Kesteven. With increasing financial pressures, linking local strategic priorities to the right service mix is crucial. This presents an opportunity to look radically at your historical approach to culture and how your future services can be shaped to meet local needs and address inequalities.
Of SLC’s feasibility work that has delivered c £300m of successful capital projects, a significant element of this is for cultural and arts venues. The Derby Silk Mill, National Centre of Craft and Design and The Hold – Ipswich Heritage Centre have all been successfully developed through our support. From concept to design, we can provide an end-to-end service.
SLC has unique experience in outsourcing cultural services and successfully undertook this in North Kesteven recently through a partnership between the Council and Lincs Inspire to operate the Arts Service and National Centre for Craft and Design. We use our sector leading experience to apply to a cultural context and can deliver significant savings and impact through SMART procurement.
