We are delighted to announce that Toby Wintgens has joined SLC as a Senior Consultant. Toby has 8 years’ consultancy experience in supporting the delivery of sport, leisure and cultural services. He has worked for 4 sport and leisure consultancies; delivering over 80 sport and leisure facility planning projects.
Toby is an experienced project manager with a degree in Sports Management from the University of Southampton. He has played a vital role in the development of facility strategies, feasibility studies and operator procurement relating to services and venues of national importance. In the last few years, Toby has provided support on an options appraisal of the hockey stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, a facilities risk assessment for England and Wales Cricket Board, operator procurement toolkit guidance for Sport England, and a major event bid for EventScotland.
For over 5 years, Toby has led the completion of local and regional facility development projects for privately and publicly funded schemes. His work has helped shape the investment priorities of national governing bodies of sport and local authorities in all parts of the UK, as well as informing decisions taken by private operators and commercial developers. This gives him valuable insight into the financial restraints, political challenges and commercial sensitivities facing the planning and delivery of sport and leisure facilities. Toby has complementary skills that strengthen SLC’s dynamic sport and leisure facility planning team – his knowledge and experience will add to SLC’s success in providing new and innovative ways of delivering sport and leisure services.
Duncan Wood-Allum, Director of SLC, commenting on Toby’s appointment said: “We’re delighted that Toby has joined SLC at a very exciting phase in the development of the company. He brings a wealth of experience in sport and leisure facility planning that will benefit our clients and I hope he enjoys working with the fantastically talented SLC team.”
Toby commenting on his appointment said: “I’m really excited to be joining the team at SLC, who are at the leading edge of developing the most innovative, sustainable and effective means of enabling the delivery of sport, leisure and physical activity opportunities. I am thrilled to be part of a team with such vast knowledge and experience in the sector.”
