The start of 2018 has brought a number of new commissions for the SLC team, from both new and some long established clients.

SLC is continuing its strong tradition of supporting the education sector in establishing sustainable community use. We recently supported an independent school in the south west, exploring the best available options for their sport and leisure provision linked to a potential regeneration scheme. Our advice has provided the Board of Trustees with a clear steer on the way forward.

The team has also renewed an old partnership with a major national sporting charity to support them with the development of its overarching strategy for the next 10 years. This follows a previous partnership which reviewed the charity’s existing partnership and event management arrangements.

Two new Local Government clients have engaged SLC to support Officers and Senior Members in exploring and developing a sustainable and deliverable vision for the future delivery of services. This will explore developing a leisure, sport and physical activity strategy, leisure investment strategy, a pre-procurement strategy and a procurement strategy for each Council.

SLC specialises in providing this kind of overarching end to end support to Senior Officers and Members, particularly through facilitated workshops. We are being approached following feedback and recommendations from our previous clients.

Having previously delivered the procurement of the leisure management operator for a 3rd sector client, SLC has now been appointed following a competitive tender to deliver a feasibility study into the deliverability of an Urban Sports Park on their behalf. This study is being delivered in collaboration with urban sports experts, EXTREME, who will provide specialist insight and expertise to the study.

SLC working with their Landscape and Masterplanning partner Southern Green have recently secured through open competition a major parks regeneration and masterplanning project in London for two high profile parks. More news on this in our next e-shot bulletin.

Duncan Wood-Allum, Managing Director of SLC said, “The team are really enjoying the diversity of the projects we are undertaking, including urban extreme sports, school community use, parks regeneration, service transformation and procurement. This shows how far SLC has come as a business over the last 7 years in establishing ourselves as a leading adviser to the Sector.”
